Question #68

Month, Day: 167, Questions, Speech (Glory)
Month, Day: 167, Questions, Questions (Beauty)

From The Most Holy Book's Questions section, #68 says it all: QUESTION: Concerning the sacred verse: “Recite ye the verses of God every morn and eventide.” ANSWER: The intention is all that hath been sent down from the Heaven of Divine Utterance. The prime requisite is the eagerness and love of sanctified souls to read the Word of God. To read one verse, or even one word, in a spirit of joy and radiance, is preferable to the perusal of many Books.

Emphasis is mine, of course. However, these influences are measurable; yes, just as we get a yearly dose, we can have a daily one, to boot. Is that not the motivation for the Operational? Too, that intuition was thrown out by the brights, except for that part in which they excel (to the detriment of the many), needs to be re-addressed from a more full position. Which is? Determining that is the basic impetus behind audacity.

Remarks:

05/17/2011 -- Stephen gets press.

05/09/2011 -- We need a constructive re-look.

03/17/2011 -- Just as St. Patrick carried the message, so too ought we act to bring forth a proper viewpoint.

More Questions

Month, Day: 167, Questions, Names (Justice)

Continuing with the theme of the prior post, it is interesting that the winter solstice occurs during the month of Questions and falls within the span of the Perfection and Names days which is a transition from Teleological to Operational.

Within The Most Holy Book, we have a Questions section suggesting the importance of being able to ask.

The depths

Month, Day: 167, Questions, Perfection (Grace)

Enshrined in the calendar is that Questions are foundationally the basis for science. We're at the depths, now going into using the last part of the yearly measure until we get another dose with the start of 168. While doing so, we'll go Motivational, Ascendant, and then Transcendent.

True wealth

Month, Day: 167, Speech, Loftiness (Glory)
Month, Day: 167, Questions, Splendour (Beauty)

As we run through the middle of the Motivational group, it might be nice to consider the following (formatting is mine), within the context of the economic games that stress maximization of one's own wealth by efforts aimed toward the minimization of the wealth of all others.

SAQ #15: Then it is clear that the honor and exaltation of man must be something more than material riches. Material comforts are only a branch, but the root of the exaltation of man is the good attributes and virtues which are the adornments of his reality. These are the
  • divine appearances,
  • the heavenly bounties,
  • the sublime emotions,
  • the love and knowledge of God;
  • universal wisdom,
  • intellectual perception,
  • scientific discoveries,
  • justice,
  • equity,
  • truthfulness,
  • benevolence,
  • natural courage and innate fortitude;
  • the respect for rights and the keeping of agreements and covenants;
  • rectitude in all circumstances;
  • serving the truth under all conditions;
  • the sacrifice of one’s life for the good of all people;
  • kindness and esteem for all nations;
  • obedience to the teachings of God;
  • service in the Divine Kingdom;
  • the guidance of the people, and
  • the education of the nations and races.
This is offered in the context of the continuing look at what the Keys bring to bear. We'll have to pause on the reflections and in order to look at a sweep of history up to the modern age.

Remarks:

03/17/2011 -- Just as St. Patrick carried the message, so too ought we act to bring forth a proper viewpoint.

Maitreya, et al

Month, Day: 167, Speech, Power (Beauty)
Month, Day: 167, Speech, Speech (Beauty)

Many continue to anticipate the Maitreya. A New Yorker article describes how one soul has been offered this burden, without looking for it. According to the list in the NYer article, many have claimed this role or that of the Messiah.

Though some question the role and its existence, there have been many. This time of the year celebrates the birth of an earlier Messiah. We have similar occurrences throughout the year.

---

So, what is the theme (motivation) here? There must be some understanding of the Prophet's Role that is within our grasp and that is inherently human (return?). This trait may very well relate to one's ability for acceptance of the Message.

Coming up next in the Motivational group will be Questions (12/12). One goal may be to ask such as to divert away from the delusional tag so that the importance of this notion to science can be discussed in a more sane fashion than we have seen to date. Would not such be the expected result if the message were true?

Remarks:

04/04/2011 -- We'll be looking at things like foreknowledge.

12/05/2010 -- Need to add that, for some views, the cycles ended. This site will be used for the main Islamic information source, for awhile.

Mentors, again

Month, Day: 167, Speech, Grandeur (Independence)

Can anyone really claim to be an autodidact? That is, be mentor-less during development.

Well, not really, except for the Manifestation. Then, all else have some type of mentor or another. That, essentially, is God's system.

Now, we know, too, about Independent Investigation of the Truth and its important role (Questions is coming up soon). So, there must be some usefulness for autodidact-ism.

What about this being a counter balance to central tendencies? What is that and those? Something that will be discussed further while pursuing the enlightenment quest.

Remarks:

04/04/2011 -- We'll be looking at things like foreknowledge.

12/05/2010 -- Is it not true that extreme positions on the axis of the mindful can lead to a god-like state-fulness?

11/27/2010 -- One thrust will be to look at the Manifestation's relationship to history. That will consider more than the issue of return, albeit this concept is very important.

Development

Month, Day: 167, Power, Speech (Justice)

As we look at what science can know, plus knowing our twin duties, we need to consider what humans bring forth and what this means to a more full worldview. Then, given that, knowing how to develop the proper attributes will follow.

Remarks:

05/26/2011 -- A 'super' position can have merit.

12/05/2010 -- Is it not true that extreme positions on the axis of the mindful can lead to a god-like state-fulness?

11/21/2010 -- We can make a separation between content and package. That is, we do this from an Operational motive, just to handle difficulty. But, any type of separation is arbitrary; too, such is natural to intelligence; hence, we see interminable conflicts in human affairs. Even when we try to combine things back, which is done via closures (applying compactification, if you would), it is an endless game due to the complexity. That, folks, is our bane of having human spirit. But, from whence is the spirit of faith supposed to get its inspiration and motivation? Ah! That is one theme that we'll be expanding upon. But, for now, consider the implications of SAQ #45: That is to say, that as the supreme Manifestations certainly possess essential infallibility, therefore whatever emanates from Them is identical with the truth, and conformable to reality.

11/20/2010 -- SAQ #55 applies. Simple enough. We can test the spirit of faith. How? Well, do you want all the answers? Questions is coming up. But, here's a hint, though. Do not the brights demonstrate the human spirit (that is, mind)? Wait, that is still an issue to some? Conundrum follows? Maybe not.

Manifestation

Month, Day: 167, Power, Names (Independence)

Last time, we considered the notion of what science can know about the Manifestation. Do not expect that the answer is categorically 'not much' before some discussion.

In the SAQ, Part Three is apropos to the topic. There are ten Chapters related to the subject. #37 (pg 148) and #45 (pg 173) have the topological theme that we'll get back to since it's essential. #40 talks knowledge (first of the Twin Duties). As we see it practiced now, science mainly deals with one of these.

Audacity says, we need to look at this otherwise.

Remarks:

11/16/2010 -- We looked at this a couple of years ago under Belief and delusion. Obviously, a major contingent within science wants delusion to be the case. Yet, the otherwise can be demonstrated. The question? To what extent in the public manner required by science? Well, it's a foundational issue.

Power of science

Month, Day: 167, Power, Splendour (Majesty)

We're in the Motivational period for 167. Remember, we started with the Transcendent, then had the Teleological, and just finished the Operational. This period will end with Honour, at which point we'll start the Ascendant toward the refreshing of the next year.

---

Had thought to use capital 'S' but did not for reasons that may be of interest at some point.

We are to know, and obey, the Manifestations who inform us by Writings, their Selves, and their System. That is the personal motivation.

Now, we apply science to tear things down, looking for truth, with an associated task of putting things back together.

What can science tell us about the Manifestation?

Discussion of these types of items will continue throughout Power and the Motivational period.

Remarks:

11/16/2010 -- What can science know?

11/05/2010 -- We are encouraged to excel at what we do, that is, God likes people to vie, peacefully. (If God has so willed, He might have made you a single community, but [He has not done so] that He might test you in what He has given you; so compete in goodness. Qu'ran, 5:48) Progress comes from that. So, can applying Principles from the Faith improve the scientific process and its results? One way that this could happen would be insights obtained via the principles. Have we seen that yet?

Benevolence

Month, Day: 167, Knowledge, Knowledge (Justice)

We have looked, briefly, at the first three of the series: concupiscence, irascibility, inspiration. Now, we are to the phase (what else?) of benevolence. And, as with the first three being related to the corresponding of the Seven Valleys, we can look at the Valley of Unity. It's a transitional Valley. Those above Contentment are beyond words; yes, there is a stress on action with Search implying the need for inexhaustible efforts (NP is one lesson).

---

As an aside, we're into the last month of the Operational (action?) group. What have we learned this year? We'll have to pause to collect some of the lessons. For one, a focus entirely on agents, while undervaluing the need for a system view, is not smart. Yet, certain views behind capitalism's shroud (the exploiters) have done just that (lazy fare is the watchword for this view). One of my efforts is to resurrect Adam Smith and David Hume within a modern scheme that would allow for dealings that are fair, just, and more.

---

No one is infallible, all powerful, or any of the other attributes that are associated with the Station of the Manifestation which is beyond our comprehension. The Station is not beyond our reflection; such considerations may very well contain what we need to establish a more firm basis. (see SAQ #37)

Actually, that we have a Manifestation, periodically, is a huge demonstration of benevolence. Yet, what percentage of that effort, mental and physical, aggregated each day on the earth has any direct connection to the knowledge (let alone, the Twin Duties) of the Manifestation?

---

If one said all effort, well, that would be true, but it ignores the wasteful expenditure of energy. Would a proper view be well-balanced, such as being the greenest of green (due to proper motivation?)?

---

One motivation here, anticipating the Motivational Group up next with Power, has been human development. There are many things to consider. For one, can the Writings provide a basis for trying to understand the process and to guide experimental efforts? Such has been asked several times as an underlying theme for Audacity.

Remarks:

10/29/2010 -- What role is there for mathematics in the larger scope? It seems to have become an oracle (and more) for scientism.

Inspiration

Month, Day: 167, Knowledge, Light (Justice)

We were doing the sequence, going into Search (Concupiscence) and Love (Irascibility). The next up would be Knowledge for which we now have a whole month which, then, relates to Inspiration. The further steps will follow.

Now, what exactly is Knowledge and what are we to do with it? Good questions. Lets defer trying to answer those and just look at a couple of issues.

For one, we have the influence of the Manifestations on Knowledge. How can we look at this? Well, the explosion of capability can be mapped to a particular point in time, generally. Does this not correlate well with the time frame of the latest Manifestation?

Too, can we not look back at prior Manifestations and see how things have progressed under their tutelage? Now, of course, that question raises a bunch of issues which can be handled, as they arise. Yes, audacity says that we need to address this sort of thing.

Here is one example, namely, how Christ's origin is referenced in the Iqan (see "Contents of the book" - "upholds the purity and innocence of the Virgin Mary"). There will be more.

Now, in regard to Mary, science has no admittance of this into the realm of fact (yet, we know that it ought to be). Actually, the Faith and Science page would be more complete if it added this to the list which originally only had three items. Now, there are six.

Sufficing, for now, is the following.

SAQ (#29): The Christ is the central point of the Holy Spirit: He is born of the Holy Spirit; He is raised up by the Holy Spirit; He is the descendant of the Holy Spirit -- that is to say, that the Reality of Christ does not descend from Adam; no, it is born of the Holy Spirit.

Is it beyond a scientific view to accept this? Well, does it not depend upon what basis founds the scientific view? And, would not one consider that science can be enlightened were the participants to agree on this?

The big question: what are we missing due to the current views of science that disallow many things that are of importance (which are? we'll get there)?

Remarks:

10/17/2012 -- There is a lot to reflect on, about the trip, especially the western loop.

Friction and more

Month, Day: 167, Will, Perfection (Perfection)

Looking at the sequence that starts with concupiscence, and then irascibility, what motivates the next step (which we'll go into later after some rumination with this theme)?

That is, if one uses an emergence theme, as we see with science, in trying to explain, and interpret, what we see, on what basis does one go beyond the teeming masses (which metaphor applies to many things)? There is a big leap from describing what is to then trying to show how things came about. Or, ought I say many big leaps?

As a hint, there is this to ponder (as we reflect) which relates to the theme being discussed. Aqdas (#58): Beware lest the desires of the flesh and of a corrupt inclination provoke divisions among you. Be ye as the fingers of one hand, the members of one body. Thus counselleth you the Pen of Revelation, if ye be of them that believe.

There are many desires which drive a progression toward continuation of life, over time, which, then, we hope fruits into some type of maturity and which we expect that we can define (the goal, for some anyway). At some point, moderating influences will have irritated and guided, as necessary. But, they may not have, too.

Hence, the very apparent imbalances that are observable. And, for many of these, many types of rationalizations have been proposed, some of which have taken hold (at least, for those who benefit from such - for those who suffer (the majority), not so much -- these are reduced to hoping for justice).

Remarks:

10/05/2010 -- From whence, indeed.

Irritation

Month, Day: 167, Will, Light (Independence)

What is an example of irascibility? Cantankerous old guy? Cross old gal? Testy teen? Choleric'd child?

---

Earlier, we started to look at the developmental sequence that starts with concupiscence. One can imagine but not attain, in this life (in the next?), a completely problem-free situation. Well, there are moments in life that are extremely nice.

In fact, from the viewpoint of weather and climate, both spring and fall can have delightful days even in the far northern realms. But, that is an aside.

What are some of these situations that are without irritation. Well, for the infant in the womb, one may claim this albeit the mother labors. Too, some seem to be born into a life of ease where any work, of substance, is done by others.

---

Ought this be the time to bring up the pearl which is, essentially, the result of reaction to an irritation?

---

Another aside: the allure of the computational experience is one where a servant, or a whole collection of them, responds to the will of the computer, or network, user. That is, if things are going well (let us count the ways that they can go wrong). We need to find a way to characterize this better, but a whole lot of affect can come from little effort.

Actually, the urge to text, and such, while driving points specifically to the ease with which one can barrel down the road at high speed without exerting much effort at all. Too, very little of the mental capacity is used.

---

But, all things change, as we know. The baby has a limited womb time. The hours pass; seasons change; the urges need to be filled periodically. There is no sate'd state that is eternal.

Ah, so any desire, or desired state, ultimately comes to an end. One result would be irritation which then can lead to irascibility. In a sense, this level is thwarted desire. For one thing, that bumping against a boundary is part of the plan. It's how we learn.

But, what exactly is it that we're to learn? Academics? Who takes lessons from a classroom out to the world? How to follow a mentor's lead? Are we not told to not imitate?

Besides, there is the prime notion of independent investigation of the truth (autodidactic-ness).

Suffice it, for now, to know that we're to know. Then, we're to obey. Twin duties.

---

Why the use of the baby's early experience? We're told that the next life is as different from here as is here from the womb. In the womb, we develop the facilities for this life. In this life, we are garnering what is needed next.

Can we know what these things are and for what use? Well, right now, we are only on the 2nd step, of 7, so that discussion is for later. Hence, delay in looking at that topic can add to the irascibility, or not.

---

On moving beyond irascibility, consider the Gleanings (pg 175): The fears and agitation which the revelation of this law provokes in men’s hearts should indeed be likened to the cries of the suckling babe weaned from his mother’s milk, if ye be of them that perceive. Were men to discover the motivating purpose of God’s Revelation, they would assuredly cast away their fears, and, with hearts filled with gratitude, rejoice with exceeding gladness.

---

There is an operational system: the baby comes with a whole set of urges, nature abounds in urge fillers and thwarters, means exist for what we need, including learning, and so forth. We saw above some suggestion about motivation.

---

How do these two map? Concupiscence/Search, Irascibility/Love. We'll be looking at that as we go along starting with Inspiration/Knowledge.

Remarks:

10/04/2010 -- Friction can beget progress.

God's Creation

Month, Day: 167, Might, Sovereignty (Independence)

Our love of abstraction, ah the sirens do call, needs to be tempered as does anything. Several types of growing prowess easily lead to hubris, especially those related to mathematics and computation. Both have become more bane than boon for we little folk.

For one, pronouncements across all time and space are not possible though the mathematical genie may tell us so. Computational truth is more susceptible to vertigo than is our humble self. In fact, humans in the loop (the epitome of this being the UHJ's role) is paramount.

There are many things to discuss in regard to the theme, but one pattern was told several ways. That is, progression and regression are chordal as well as stepped. One might see this as the old continuous/discrete argument and not be wrong.

Let's look at the 7 Valleys and the development sequence mentioned in the Gleanings.

7 Valleys: Search, Love, Knowledge, Unity, Contentment, Wonderment, True Poverty and Absolute Nothingness

Gleanings: Concupiscence, Irascibility, Inspiration, Benevolence, Contentment, Divine Good Pleasure, ... ,

We'll take each of these as pairs starting with Search/Concupiscence. So, not only do we have basic drives, we see motivation as a key to life and system. In terms of the latter, consider, please, autonomy as the theme. Basic drives are not bad, as we have been told by the Master (SAQ #57: For example, from the beginning of his life you can see in a nursing child the signs of greed, of anger and of temper.). In fact, they are necessary.

Aside: the old adage that God helps those who help themselves applies here. Thankfully, we have a whole group of Motivational Attributes to ponder each month and year.

Now, we could go next to Love/Irascibility and the others and talk about the progressive scheme embedded that we see everywhere. The intent would be both descriptive (remember, we're talking System) and operational (deeds over Words). However, let's leave that for next time and return to desire.

Of late, we've seen come to light how some cats get fatter as they gorge themselves at the trough of good stuff that is filled by all of us. For some reason, the metaphoric thinking, misuse of Darwinian concepts, about business has been 'jungle' confluent. The notions related to the misconstrued 'free market' ideal have been obviously incomplete.

The problem is, how do we show this? It'll happen (do we have less than PTIME to accomplish the feat?).

Much of the 'free market' silliness really is trying to apply the facets of the above series. That is, autonomy is required for desire to work its magic, after infant-hood. We all know that a top-down overlay is not of men's hearts (Aqdas #95: None must contend with those who wield authority over the people; leave unto them that which is theirs, and direct your attention to men’s hearts.), even though power, in the hands of the unenlightened, seems to unlearn that basic theme.

The Bab said that the infant today is better (far surpassed in learning) than the most capable, and accomplished, from the former times. For one, that suggests that we ought to be using the human development system as a guide to how other systems ought to work. Two, we need to recognize that superimposed learning can be detrimental (not by necessity, though) to the proper type of development needed for sustainable economics (and other affairs).

Much to discuss here. Coming up will be: Love/Irascibility, Knowledge/Inspiration, Unity/Benevolence, Contentment/Contentment, Wonderment/Divine Good Pleasure

Remarks:

10/04/2010 -- Friction can beget progress.

10/01/2010 -- Irritation, the good and the bad.

God's science

Month, Day: 167, Might, Light (Beauty)
Month, Day: 167, Might, Might (Independence)

A few thoughts related to insights from the Writings that pertain to science which is an operational affair related to roles (emphasis on Deeds over Words in the requirements of the age). These will be collected in a coherent manner at some point.

In a sense, we might argue that any basis, other than a computational one, is suspect. Why? Long series of arguments here, but the Key applies. How? It is our task to show.

---

Humans bring to fore what is needed as an integral part of a worldview. Okay, reality is there, however intelligence (of a type to be discussed further) is manifested by ourselves.

There are means to note, for ourselves, what might be termed progress. For example, this from Gleanings: Much hath been written in the books of old concerning the various stages in the development of the soul, such as concupiscence, irascibility, inspiration, benevolence, contentment, Divine good-pleasure, and the like; the Pen of the Most High, however, is disinclined to dwell upon them. Every soul that walketh humbly with its God, in this Day, and cleaveth unto Him, shall find itself invested with the honor and glory of all goodly names and stations.

---

Humans have differing abilities, within themselves through time and amongst themselves. These need to be studied in their multifarious aspects.

Again, Gleanings: The whole duty of man in this Day is to attain that share of the flood of grace which God poureth forth for him. Let none, therefore, consider the largeness or smallness of the receptacle. The portion of some might lie in the palm of a man’s hand, the portion of others might fill a cup, and of others even a gallon-measure.

Hence, it's not the structure, as we saw earlier, rather it's the ability related to roles. And, these are mixed.

---

Of course, the gallon-measure demands attention. This does not mean oodles of money flowing like a stream (as we see now, with less than 2% collecting, or holding tightly, 99%+ of the resources), necessarily.

Science will allow more equitable concepts to emerge, especially in the dismal science of economics.

Aqdas: We have appointed two signs for the coming of age of the human race: the first, which is the most firm foundation, We have set down in other of Our Tablets, while the second hath been revealed in this wondrous Book.

One of these is that no enlightened person would want to be king or queen, except in some 'role' sense.

Remarks:

08/31/2012 -- Names, Knowledge, Independence.

12/05/2010 -- Is it not true that extreme positions on the axis of the mindful can lead to a god-like state-fulness?

0/04/2010 -- Friction can beget progress.

09/17/2010 -- As mentioned earlier as a comment that the year's focus would be enlightenment, the motivation (which group follows the Operational, in which we are now) is to understand the progression of science (toward scientism and other types) for the past 200 years through studying the Writings. We cannot look back, but we can try to delta around the Revelation times. The explosion in knowledge and technology, or observable patterns thereof, can be placed on a time line that can (must) span the mid-1800s thereby offering conjectural support. Now, the use of conjecture is meant to imply that we have, at best, quasi-empiricism anyway; hence, the proposed activity (applying insight about roles to discern the growing presence of these) is not without some 'sound' basis (foundational review that it needs to be). Without scrutiny such as this (audacious or not), how to we learn from the past? As far as we know, the prescription against looking back is against wider looks that have a smaller chance of finding corroborative data. Our merely looking back a few centuries is a minimal extension in comparison.

Will and knowing II

Month, Day: 167, Names, Will (Perfection)
Month, Day: 167, Names, Knowledge (Grace)

As we look at the ontological issues, this series brings a lot of insights that are of interest to operational schemes. For one, we have the groups: Transcendent, Teleological, Operational, Motivational, Ascendant. Then, we have the flow within each of the members of the Groups allowing us another look at each, every month.

Taking some concepts from f-logic, as an example of how structure comes to fore, Names would map to entities. Attributes are of several types, but they are subsumed by Might. That is, functional attributes are in the mix, to boot. Then, Will deals with the domain (Dominion), in this context, via roles. Finally, we have the first of the Twin Duties, namely to know (Knowledge).

After the last of the Operational group, we transition to the Motivational which helps us with the second of the Twin Duties.

Earlier, there was a motivation to note that we can immerse ourselves to find the basis for science. That is, immerse in the great sea of Words, yet, even there, the admonition is that the Twin Duties are paramount.

Aqdas #182: Immerse yourselves in the ocean of My words, that ye may unravel its secrets, and discover all the pearls of wisdom that lie hid in its depths.

We are only a few years beyond the Revelation, nowhere near any grand scheme that would allow 'spirit' into our materially engrossed lives and ontology. Of course, the brights may argue that such collective insight is impossible, or very unlikely.

As to likelihood, we have not seen yet how to establish the basis for such analysis. That is one of our tasks, perhaps the chief one.

Remarks:

05/17/2011 -- Stephen gets press.

05/09/2011 -- We need a constructive re-look.

10/04/2010 -- We have cycles within which to work.

09/12/2010 -- Actions, as in Deeds over Words, is the core issue related to science.

Finale

Month, Day: 167, Perfection, Loftiness (Majesty)

We're at the end of the Teleological so that means that Operational concerns can be once more on the table. And, what is Science if not operational?

That is, we have operational definitions as the basis for what is, essentially, underdetermined. Yet, we were counseled that Certitude is of essence.

A question always on the table deals with the Manifestation and science, not to ignore those related to explaining things like life, consciousness, and more from an axiomatic basis using reason and data.

SAQ #22: The meaning is not that the Manifestations are unable to perform miracles, for They have all power. But for Them inner sight, spiritual healing and eternal life are the valuable and important things.

Has not that 'inner sight' been castigated and thrown out by science? 'How to recover' is one thing to ponder and discuss as we expend the yearly measure.

A System

Month, Day: 167, Perfection, Honour (Perfection)

The last of the Motivational group, in this month of Perfection.

One could use the metaphor of attractors (and their opposites), somewhat. As we see from the Iqan (#213): He must so cleanse his heart that no remnant of either love or hate may linger therein, lest that love blindly incline him to error, or that hate repel him away from the truth.

Yet, measures come in, too. As, progress needs some type of denotation, and metric, to support the necessary controls. But, then the metrics are not sufficient.

Will and knowing

Month, Day: 167, Perfection, Knowledge (Majesty)

Yesterday, we saw Will come up after the long sequence through the Transcendent and Teleological groups.

Will, the third of the Operational, is so important for autonomous action (including Audacity).

And, one principle guidance is the Twin duties pair, namely knowing and then obeying. We are given the means, and Might, to follow through properly. Yet, what says this for the proper framework for science?

Valley of Contentment
: Although to outward view, the wayfarers in this Valley may dwell upon the dust, yet inwardly they are throned in the heights of mystic meaning; they eat of the endless bounties of inner significances, and drink of the delicate wines of the spirit.

Eve of Perfection

Month, Day: 167, Words, Dominion (Independence)

We're at Perfection's eve. Too, the last of the Teleological group is coming up.

The themes?

On the one hand, we have science and its secular views. On the other, we have Perfection as exemplified by the Manifestation. Then, despite the supposed gap, we know that these two views can be balanced.

How? Without audacity? Are we allowed to apply science to understanding the Manifestation?

No easy answers, rather Questions abound. But, we also know that structure for this is there, that is, means exist. As well, patience is important; Search is endless upon unfathomable regions that do exhibit, and embed, Names, from whence come our observable patterns.

...

Again, we see the gift of the Operational. As well, we continue to use our yearly measure.

Remarks:

08/19/2010 -- Teleological finale.

07/31/2010 -- Return, and more, is apropos. SAQ (#33): As the beginning was a seed and the end is a seed, we say that the seed has returned. When we look at the substance of the tree, it is another substance, but when we look at the blossoms, leaves and fruits, the same fragrance, delicacy and taste are produced. Therefore, the perfection (emphasis mine) of the tree has returned a second time.

Words

Month, Day: 167, Words, Questions (Justice)

Several metaphors have been used for the immensity of Words, and is there any better than ocean?

We know that 'words' can be as waves, suggesting the transient. Though, there are dangers that can result from the effect of words, they are necessary in a constructive sense.

So, how do we get structure? Well, this month is on the other side of Perfection from Names which time is the transition from the Teleological to the Operational.

Names bring structure to the fore for us and our uses.

...

With Perfection, and August, we have a congruence of the eighth months. Actually, this start of the month agreement is the only one in the year. What is the significance of 8/1?

Remarks:

07/31/2010 -- All types of meaning of Words come into play. From the Transcendent onward (or outward). Then, those involved in human interplay, on the psychether onward (and outward) to that related to the otogenic apparati, need attention. Patterns? The Key, and more.

07/30/2010 -- Patterns, as examples of types of structure, are apropos.

Might of Mercy

Month, Day: 167, Mercy, Might (Glory)

From two years ago, we can see the theme of this day.

The transition that occurs before the end of Light can be palpable using various metaphors: clouds covering the burning sun, bountiful rain falling over the parched earth, and such.

As alluded to earlier, there are inflection points, namely the origin (Splendour of Splendour), the apex (Sovereignty of Light), and two more (Honour of Might, Might of Questions).

We ought to pay attention (cycle-wise) to the period before and after these events, as there are significances.

Congruences

Month, Day: 167, Light, Speech (Independence)

So many things to ponder, such as congruences. There are many of these. Of note, to the Teleological theme, is the minor and major overlap of calendars: fifth month of Light starting on the fifth day of June and the eight month of Perfection starting with the eight month of August.

But, the brights (ought there be a category?) have their focus leaving a whole realm to audacity.

SAQ (#42): The enlightenment of the world of thought comes from these centers of light and sources of mysteries. Without the bounty of the splendor and the instructions of these Holy Beings the world of souls and thoughts would be opaque darkness.

Of course, there will be limits to how much science can study the Manifestation.

SAQ (#45): In short, the meaning of “He doeth whatsoever He willeth” is that if the Manifestation says something, or gives a command, or performs an action, and believers do not understand its wisdom, they still ought not to oppose it by a single thought, seeking to know why He spoke so, or why He did such a thing.

Yet, we have the Operational and Questions.

It is Light

Month, Day: 167, Grandeur, Loftiness (Independence)
Month, Day: 167, Light, Splendour (Glory)

As mentioned, the theme, for the year (and however long it takes), will revolve around en-Light-en-ment which label was thrown on a phase that threw off the old and started anew. Cycles?

The move from the Transcendent group allows another look at this. The start of the Teleological is Light. Words come later, leading to Questions.

Aqdas #186: This is a Book which hath become the Lamp of the Eternal unto the world, and His straight, undeviating Path amidst the peoples of the earth. Say: This is the Dayspring of Divine knowledge, if ye be of them that understand, and the Dawning-place of God’s commandments, if ye be of those who comprehend.

Central notions related to the theme will be discussed using a type of juxtaposition.

Here are examples.

Enlightenment

Month, Day: 167, Grandeur, Mercy (Glory)

We'll have a theme this year, for several reasons.

For one, last year's was looking at the Groups. Then, we ought to ponder this: prior to the events of the Manifestations, the western world underwent a transformation, of several sorts.

Since there are Teleological implications to consider, we'll let that Group (we're now in the Transcendent) be the focus. As we know, the Group starts with Light which has so many aspects. Actually, just as electromagnetic theory likes its Hilbert notions, so too do the spiritual characteristics exist unbounded.

And, we'll use the American side for focus for this analysis (which age followed en-light-en-ment). Consider, universal education was a tenant (and ideal) of the en-light-en'd Puritanical view.

Also, the whole issue of Audacity (major theme here), and its non-mentor'd parallel (except, the only ones of this state truly are the Manifestations), will be re-framed using metaphorically motivated (another Group) notions from the Enlightenment's contributions as the core.

Note that the temporal flavor is an artifact (which are allowed for illustration, see SAQ and Valley Four) that will be superimposed upon the Writings. Or, is it that the Writings are the superposed? There is more to consider than 'propositional' concerns.

You see, the arguments concerning use of the Writings for foundational purposes remain open to demonstration. How? And, to what extent? And, at what point does there need to be overview through the workings of the Administrative order? Plus, 'light' and its basis, for computation and imagination and more, are on the table.

To what depth can all this be penetrated this year?

Transcendent Knowledge and Power

Month, Day: 167, Beauty, Knowledge (Beauty)
Month, Day: 167, Beauty, Power (Perfection)

Aqdas (#81): O kings of the earth! The Most Great Law hath been revealed in this Spot, this scene of transcendent splendour. Every hidden thing hath been brought to light by virtue of the Will of the Supreme Ordainer, He Who hath ushered in the Last Hour, through Whom the Moon hath been cleft, and every irrevocable decree expounded.

Of interest is to read forward a few more paragraphs, especially the counsel that 'hearts' are of chief interest which seems to be antithetical to those who are wont to wield power over more than their own selves.

Transcendent Independence

Month, Day: 167, Beauty, Beauty (Independence)

The third of the Transcendent group (first use of these) has started.

Firstly, a notion of the Station.

Aqdas (#142): Verily, He revealed certain laws so that, in this Dispensation, the Pen of the Most High might have no need to move in aught but the glorification of His own transcendent Station and His most effulgent Beauty. Since, however, We have wished to evidence Our bounty unto you, We have, through the power of truth, set forth these laws with clarity and mitigated what We desire you to observe. He, verily, is the Munificent, the Generous.

To none is given this, even royalty and peerage (a new thing to study, given its importance to what we see in the economic domain).

Aqdas (#72): It is forbidden you to trade in slaves, be they men or women. It is not for him who is himself a servant to buy another of God’s servants, and this hath been prohibited in His Holy Tablet. Thus, by His mercy, hath the commandment been recorded by the Pen of justice. Let no man exalt himself above another; all are but bondslaves before the Lord, and all exemplify the truth that there is none other God but Him. He, verily, is the All-Wise, Whose wisdom encompasseth all things.
There will be an economic flavor, as modern corporate life, for the many, is not much more than a type of bondage. That is, for all, except the CEO and a few others.

The trouble is that the lessening of any grasp of the real Operational aspects, through the advancement of mathematics via computation, has bound us all into some type servitude. The epitome of this? Zombies willingly attuned to elsewhere and when (the opposite of the here and now) via addiction to the electronic beasts and their cloud'd overseer.

Another topic will deal with Independence for us, mainly Independent Investigation of the Truth.

Transcendent topology

Month, Day: 167, Glory, Knowledge (Grace)
Month, Day: 167, Glory, Power (Justice)

Consider Aqdas (#144): All things proceed from God and unto Him they return. He is the source of all things and in Him all things are ended.

Simple enough. We are to show the operational aspects of this and to define the benefits thereof.

And, the work is for the believers who are those aware of the twin duties (and their kin) as well as being for the non-believers who are not subsumed under the brights, necessarily, as many may just not be amenable to being mentored (in general, the autodidact).

So, now being short, consider the arguments concerning underdetermination. Some concepts are 'too blunt' to support determination, and progress has come from sharpening the blade (Occam's is an example) and from adding to our observable set (limits here are too easily identified).

How the larger picture is filled in, without the Key, can be problematic. Which leads to the above quote that deals with 'from whence' among other things.

As well, a re-iteration is in order: Transcendent --> Teleological --> Operational --> Motivational --> Ascendant.

Notice, please, that Operational is the balancing feature.

Transcendent Glory

Month, Day: 167, Glory, Glory (Glory)
Month, Day: 167, Glory, Beauty (Beauty)

SAQ (54): For the Word does not signify the body of Christ, no, but the divine perfections manifested in Him. For Christ was like a clear mirror which was facing the Sun of Reality; and the perfections of the Sun of Reality—that is to say, its light and heat—were visible and apparent in this mirror. If we look into the mirror, we see the sun, and we say, “It is the sun.” Therefore, the Word and the Holy Spirit, which signify the perfections of God, are the divine appearance. This is the meaning of the verse in the Gospel which says: “The Word was with God, and the Word was God”; for the divine perfections are not different from the Essence of Oneness. The perfections of Christ are called the Word because all the beings are in the condition of letters, and one letter has not a complete meaning, while the perfections of Christ have the power of the word because a complete meaning can be inferred from a word. As the Reality of Christ was the manifestation of the divine perfections, therefore, it was like the word. Why? Because He is the sum of perfect meanings. This is why He is called the Word.

We have three more and then the Teleological before getting into the Operational.

New Year 167

Month, Day: 167, Splendour, Splendour (Beauty)

A fresh start, again. P&M (#46): Do Thou ordain for him, and for them, and for all such as have entered Thy presence in those days all the good Thou didst destine in Thy Book. Supply them, then, with that which will profit them, in both this life and in the life beyond.

Our new yearly measure. Use it well.

First of the square days.

The days of the Transcendent. P&M (#184): Divest, then, Thy servants, O my God, of the garments of self and desire, or grant that the eyes of Thy people may be lifted up to such heights that they will discern in their desires naught except the stirring of the gentle winds of Thine eternal glory, and may recognize in their own selves nothing but the revelation of Thine own merciful Self, that the earth and all that is therein may be cleansed of whatever is alien to Thee, or anything that manifesteth aught save Thy Self.

Indubitable

Month, Day: 166, Loftiness, Questions (Grace)
Month, Day: 166, Loftiness, Honour (Justice)

By now, we are to the later of the groups that we see each month, currently being in the Motivational. The Name of this day, Questions, is a force behind science. Yet, some things are beyond questions, being indubitable.

To what does science apply in that case? That is, yes, a lot of science might very well be characterized as belaboring the obvious (paraphrase from the Devil's DP Dictionary).

SAQ #83: Know then: that which is in the hands of people, that which they believe, is liable to error. For, in proving or disproving a thing, if a proof is brought forward which is taken from the evidence of our senses, this method, as has become evident, is not perfect; if the proofs are intellectual, the same is true; or if they are traditional, such proofs also are not perfect. Therefore, there is no standard in the hands of people upon which we can rely. ... But the bounty of the Holy Spirit gives the true method of comprehension which is infallible and indubitable. This is through the help of the Holy Spirit which comes to man, and this is the condition in which certainty can alone be attained.

Does not the statement imply an operational mode in which people are central, as opposed to a systems-based method? And, in many cases, resolution will be of a new Institution, perhaps, even with computer assistance for truth checking and dispersion of results.

Ascendant to Transcendent

Month, Day: 166, Dominion, Dominion (Justice)

Couldn't pass up having a post on this square day. We're heading to the last month of 166 (and the renewal of energies). With the three Ascendant months and the four Transcendent months, we have almost a third of the year devoted to things than cannot be reduced.

Isn't that great?

Then, we have the reducible, to an extent, and usable, with the other three groups: Teleological, Operational, and Motivational.

So, the theme will continue, as how can we apply knowledge of the Key? How long will this take? Well, I'm not racing against the anyone's clock (though, it's to be within PTIME, I hope).

---

Reminder, about Revelation, Aqdas (#37): Whoso layeth claim to a Revelation direct from God, ere the expiration of a full thousand years, such a man is assuredly a lying impostor.

Easy enough.

Too, somehow, the abstracted has led us astray. How to reclaim the fact that human intuition, and natural bases, are more grounded? That is, Creation-based science.

Revelations

Month, Day: 166, Dominion, Honour (Perfection)

One of the longest chapters in the SAQ, (#11), deals with the Revelation of St. John: In the day of the manifestation of the Lord of Hosts, and at the epoch of the divine cycle of the Omnipotent which is promised and mentioned in all the books and writings of the Prophets—in that day of God, the Spiritual and Divine Kingdom will be established, and the world will be renewed; a new spirit will be breathed into the body of creation; the season of the divine spring will come; the clouds of mercy will rain; the sun of reality will shine; the life-giving breeze will blow; the world of humanity will wear a new garment; the surface of the earth will be a sublime paradise; mankind will be educated; wars, disputes, quarrels and malignity will disappear; and truthfulness, righteousness, peace and the worship of God will appear; union, love and brotherhood will surround the world; and God will rule for evermore—meaning that the Spiritual and Everlasting Kingdom will be established. Such is the day of God. For all the days which have come and gone were the days of Abraham, Moses and Christ, or of the other Prophets; but this day is the day of God, for the Sun of Reality will arise in it with the utmost warmth and splendor.
How many today posses such insight as shown by St. John? Is it not appropriate to suggest that everyone does?

As mentioned in the Gleanings (#5): The whole duty of man in this Day is to attain that share of the flood of grace which God poureth forth for him. Let none, therefore, consider the largeness or smallness of the receptacle. The portion of some might lie in the palm of a man’s hand, the portion of others might fill a cup, and of others even a gallon-measure.

One has to accept that many who are of talent go astray bringing oodles of people with them along the paths to perdition. Is this how we learn?

---

The theme of trying to describe some notion of the Manifestation will continue, albeit more slowly than not, to the end of fostering an improvement scheme for the everyman.

We are beyond the time of the Presence, yet how apropos is the following now? Gleanings (#124): It is for this reason that, in those days, no man shall ever stand in need of his neighbor.

We have seen the deleterious effect of the power; when will science demonstrate a more balanced framework (being discussed, of course)?

Mentors

Month, Day: 166, Dominion, Splendour (Beauty)

There was an earlier suggestion that we need to think about, though we cannot comprehend, the various states of the Manifestations, who are Key, since we have been allowed Questions (science).

Notice SAQ #25: In the Gospel of John, in speaking of the Promised One Who was to come after Christ, it is said in chapter 16, verses 12, 13: “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak.” Then, there is an explanation.

How does this happen? Is there any similarity with normal human existence? That is, are we allowed any semblance of knowing.

What about action? We all have some notion about puppetry. Is this not the motivation behind indoctrination?

These questions are such as an autodidact would bring forward; independent investigation of the truth necessitates the autodidact which essentially consists a mentor-less state.

Yet, how can one actually be mentor-less? Our parents are our first mentors (SAQ #57). In fact, they set the stage for our lives, in many ways that are permanent. If they have done a good job, it leaves one in a condition of standing on the shoulders of giants (thanks, Isaac).

In this regard, too, the counsel of God loving those who works in groups (paraphrase) applies from several perspectives. One that needs further explanation is foundational (the future - psychether).

By the way, have you thanked your parents lately (SAQ #62)?

Consider that the Glory's parents died early so that he was raised by his uncle which resulted in a different mentoring situation. Teleologically important? Reducing a type of influence? Perhaps, it was a grace to them, disallowed any erroneous motions (free will, this side).

In any case, the usual 'mentor' dynamic, of the normal human experience, did not happen. However the operational aspects unfolded, we can only know pieces. One important thing? No matter how real any similar circumstance may appear to be, it cannot be the case, according to the thousand year rule.

Now, this discussion mainly points to the time when science (ah, Brights?) will have accepted some categorical difference between humans and other creatures and when they try to attempt to use this knowledge. Somehow, limits must be fully described and supported scientifically. As mentioned earlier, for those things not in the Writings (and we do not know this yet),
the Universal House of Justice will be central.

Eons and eons

Month, Day: 166, Sovereignty, Speech (Perfection)
Month, Day: 166, Sovereignty, Sovereignty (Majesty)

One thing that audacity will bring is that teleology has a firm BASIS.

Now, when we consider the modern views of science, with its mathematical framework, time is a major factor with huge dimensional impacts, even with the 'tricks' such as invoking Hilbert's notions. Yet, that hugeness does not stop speculation about interpretations even though such activities are, in a very strong sense, antithetical to what how 'science' defines itself.

Call the propensity fill in just part of human nature, if you will. Underdetermination remains a key issue, though.

Now, the thing that we need to show is that the Writings can provide needed insight. It's not clear how this will work since arguments descend to issues like whether propositional issues are handled and similar.

But, think of the continuing, and recurrent, influence, somehow, of the Manifestation over time on Creation, that is, the super-positioned. All sorts of things come to the imagination (which Albert extolled over knowledge).

Given that art can use modern techniques, brought to us by science and engineering, we see the emergence of better and better presentation, via movies and such (3D, animation, ...). After catching a glimpse of one dealing with dinosaurs, one can easily ponder an experiment gone wild. Hence, some type of 'tweak' was necessary to reduce size and attitude.

Of course, there is always the chance that the portrayal of a mean and aggressive attitude is founded in some part of the human psyche, that is, entirely laced with sentiments of social dwarinism (apologies to Charles).

Yet, the fact remains that the largest land animals, now, are not carnivores. And, the largest on the planet are water creatures.

Of course, this could be better described, however how the 'tweak' may occur is of interest and ought to be to science (that type of science which could allow such -- yes, there may very well be an operationally useful aspect to this).

Remarks:

08/01/2012 --Ether, in a manner that is unavoidably true. Our task? Show how to handle the matter from a scientific (the wise interpretation, okay?) framework. And, audacity is not necessary.

Meaning of life

Month, Day: 166, Sovereignty, Names (Justice)
Month, Day: 166, Sovereignty, Will (Independence)

The Ascendant group corresponds to the time of looking forward to thaws and longer days.

The change in the Mystical teachings subsection is interesting, for several reasons, including Audacity.

So, notions about Return are really about recurrence which we see everywhere. Notions of 'reincarnation' may relate to lessons taught by thermodynamics.

In essence, science is how we learn what God wants us to know.

Return, again

Month, Day: 166, Sovereignty, Glory (Justice)

Ah, the Ascendant group.

We've looked at return (supported, see Iqan) and reincarnation (not supported, see SAQ #82). Now, we'll take it further.

The chief problem with science, to be be addressed, is pre-existence. What was before the big bang?

SAQ #80: This is the beginning and the end of the Word of God, Who says: “I am Alpha and Omega”; for He is the beginning and the end of Bounty. The Creator always had a creation; the rays have always shone and gleamed from the reality of the sun, for without the rays the sun would be opaque darkness. The names and attributes of God require the existence of beings, and the Eternal Bounty does not cease. If it were to, it would be contrary to the perfections of God.

Now, of course, cosmology's arguments are mathematically based, so we'll start there. Naturally, we'll eventually get to quasi-empiricism (by necessity) but not yet.

As an aside, we can show both evolution and multiple universes, easily, yet the Key is the issue.

Remarks:

01/25/2011 -- What would be a comprehensive view of this phenomenon?

12/05/2010 -- Is it not true that extreme positions on the axis of the mindful can lead to a god-like state-fulness?

Singleness

Month, Day: 166, Honour, Dominion (Beauty)

Let's be more specific, conceptually, and the details will follow. Return is addressed several places. Are allusions implied? Yes and no, as it depends. That we see recurrence of a nature that science ignores is the key issue. Everyone can see these things as they will.

Now, taking the thought further, we need to look at the arguments against reincarnation. This does not mean to argue against any one's belief. It basically is provided for its potential for explaining some things that seem to antithetical to scientism.

SAQ #82: The first argument for its impossibility is that the outward is the expression of the inward; the earth is the mirror of the Kingdom; the material world corresponds to the spiritual world. Now observe that in the sensible world appearances are not repeated, for no being in any respect is identical with, nor the same as, another being. The sign of singleness is visible and apparent in all things. If all the granaries of the world were full of grain, you would not find two grains absolutely alike, the same and identical without any distinction.

Consider this. The growth of our prowess with abstraction (nonsense, to certain views) has led us along perdition-bound paths to the detriment of all. That the best and brightest have been allowed to game finance into an unbalanced state rests more on the complexities brought by computation, and its mathematical basis, than on mere human frailties. We can correct this.

Too, abstraction's gift to science is similar and has led to a divergence from reality and knowledge. Strong statement, I know. We can support it fully. So, we know that God controls creation; yet, that operational method is not mathematically founded. Not in the usual sense that is commonly accepted.

Not only are things different at the meta-atomic level, so too are they atomically, and perhaps below. The consequence? A type of memory that, when we learn how to use it, can phenomenally change our lives.

We've see the 'sun' in the atom (Seven Valleys). We have not, yet, seen this force. Know what? Its use will not be as readily found as was that in the 1940's use of atomic power. Too, it'll require human interaction; therefore, any with notions of the isolation of the best and brightest (we've seen this start with the financial imbalance) will be counter productive.

How long will this all take? It'll probably be beyond my time; yet, I can express the main component of the basis - psychether.

There you have it, folks.

Afterword: We have only 1 more day before the Ascendants begin our climb to the New Year and the energy burst.

Remarks:

01/25/2012 -- Yes, still at it. Ready to be more audacious. What we're looking for has to do with mind; at some point, it will be allowed by science that we can observe effects (actually, predict, to boot - one step forward will be a more insightful mathematics).
