God's Creation

Month, Day: 167, Might, Sovereignty (Independence)

Our love of abstraction, ah the sirens do call, needs to be tempered as does anything. Several types of growing prowess easily lead to hubris, especially those related to mathematics and computation. Both have become more bane than boon for we little folk.

For one, pronouncements across all time and space are not possible though the mathematical genie may tell us so. Computational truth is more susceptible to vertigo than is our humble self. In fact, humans in the loop (the epitome of this being the UHJ's role) is paramount.

There are many things to discuss in regard to the theme, but one pattern was told several ways. That is, progression and regression are chordal as well as stepped. One might see this as the old continuous/discrete argument and not be wrong.

Let's look at the 7 Valleys and the development sequence mentioned in the Gleanings.

7 Valleys: Search, Love, Knowledge, Unity, Contentment, Wonderment, True Poverty and Absolute Nothingness

Gleanings: Concupiscence, Irascibility, Inspiration, Benevolence, Contentment, Divine Good Pleasure, ... ,

We'll take each of these as pairs starting with Search/Concupiscence. So, not only do we have basic drives, we see motivation as a key to life and system. In terms of the latter, consider, please, autonomy as the theme. Basic drives are not bad, as we have been told by the Master (SAQ #57: For example, from the beginning of his life you can see in a nursing child the signs of greed, of anger and of temper.). In fact, they are necessary.

Aside: the old adage that God helps those who help themselves applies here. Thankfully, we have a whole group of Motivational Attributes to ponder each month and year.

Now, we could go next to Love/Irascibility and the others and talk about the progressive scheme embedded that we see everywhere. The intent would be both descriptive (remember, we're talking System) and operational (deeds over Words). However, let's leave that for next time and return to desire.

Of late, we've seen come to light how some cats get fatter as they gorge themselves at the trough of good stuff that is filled by all of us. For some reason, the metaphoric thinking, misuse of Darwinian concepts, about business has been 'jungle' confluent. The notions related to the misconstrued 'free market' ideal have been obviously incomplete.

The problem is, how do we show this? It'll happen (do we have less than PTIME to accomplish the feat?).

Much of the 'free market' silliness really is trying to apply the facets of the above series. That is, autonomy is required for desire to work its magic, after infant-hood. We all know that a top-down overlay is not of men's hearts (Aqdas #95: None must contend with those who wield authority over the people; leave unto them that which is theirs, and direct your attention to men’s hearts.), even though power, in the hands of the unenlightened, seems to unlearn that basic theme.

The Bab said that the infant today is better (far surpassed in learning) than the most capable, and accomplished, from the former times. For one, that suggests that we ought to be using the human development system as a guide to how other systems ought to work. Two, we need to recognize that superimposed learning can be detrimental (not by necessity, though) to the proper type of development needed for sustainable economics (and other affairs).

Much to discuss here. Coming up will be: Love/Irascibility, Knowledge/Inspiration, Unity/Benevolence, Contentment/Contentment, Wonderment/Divine Good Pleasure

Remarks:

10/04/2010 -- Friction can beget progress.
