Both born on 02/12/1809, Lincoln and Darwin are of interest to the topics of this blog. The former is notable for many reasons (from the rough hewn times of the US), being autodidact is an important one. We'll defer that discussion for another time as knowing is a central theme here.
The latter (from an older culture) will get more worldwide attention. In regard to the continuing debate (in some minds, a closed case), a brief list of related Writings may be in order.
- -- SAQ #1 : ON THE INFLUENCE OF THE PROPHETS IN THE EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY
- -- SAQ #46: MODIFICATION OF SPECIES
- -- SAQ #47: THE UNIVERSE IS WITHOUT BEGINNING; THE ORIGIN OF MAN ("But from the beginning of man’s existence he is a distinct species.")
- -- "To each among you, we have prescribed a law and a way for acting. If God has so willed, He might have made you a single community, but [He has not done so] that He might test you in what He has given you; so compete in goodness." Qu'ran, 5:48
Remarks:
01/25/2011 -- What would be a comprehensive view of phenomena?
03/19/2009 -- Science and knowing are key.
