A gift that keeps giving

Month, Day: 171, Questions, Loftiness (Grace)

Questions, our best gift.

There are some interesting mappings twixt the old calendar (predominant one) and the new (that used by this blog). Take 12/12 which is the start of Questions (15/1). Then, 12/26 is Questions of Questions (15/15, if you would).  And, today, last of Questions, is one day prior to the year end. 12/31 is 16/1.

In 2014, Questions of Questions occurred on the day of Independence.

Now, the best one is 8/1 and 8/1. As in, August which is the days of the dog, so to speak, starts on the same day as does the month of Perfection. The square day for Perfection? 8/8. And, there are more.

We'll get back to the audaciousness that will be required: symmetry, BASIS, diagonals/groups, and more.

Questions, favorite month; Pages and tabs

Month, Day: 171, Questions, Mercy (Justice)

My favorite month. If you think about it, the gift of Questions is the basis for knowledge and science.

---

Too, remember the reflection point, knowledge of which (BASIS) will be central to a stable future.

---

Just became aware of the Pages feature which is nice as it allows an overview that is outside of the temporal one and beyond the capability of the categorical.

JCM

Month, Day: 171, Speech, Sovereignty (Grace)

We need to make use of James Clerk Maxwell's view of phenomena as well as being aware of his  phenomenal stature. 150 years ago.

The article deals with the long road to establishing physical facts that followed Maxwell's thoughts years before which were couched mathematically as this is one argument on the "list" required to claim the "meta" (albeit, not explicitly) qualities of mathematics as a basis.

Too, it was 21 years or so post the reflection point, knowledge of which (BASIS) will be central to a stable future.

Cold lessons

Month, Day: 171, Knowledge, Questions (Majesty)

The northern climes are starting to feel the cool blasts that try to obliterate the flow and bustle of summer and early fall. Seasons tell us a lot, especially winter for the northerners.

---

Several questions pertain to these changes that we see, yearly: cycles, Questions, etc. Of late, reflections on symmetry abound.

For each, how well have we spent the bounty of our measures

Comprehension

Month, Day: 171, Might, Words (Beauty)

Earlier, we noted that Blaise was 200 years prior to the Revelation. That was written in the context of looking at symmetry (very important). Along that same line of thought, Leonhard Euler was 137 years. We will be getting back to him and his work in a more full senses (considering his personal philosophical views).

---

John von Neumann was 59 years, on this side. Be that as it may, let's use one of his notions. He is quoted thusly (paraphrase): with mathematics, we don't get understanding; we get used to it. So, we could talk inurement and more, say habits. That is, we work at things in order to get some semblance of mastery. Yet, that is illusory when dealing with complex subjects.

If you do not see that, go ponder the Valleys beyond Unity and 1 & 2. Again, be that as it may, we see the world being overlaid insidiously with misused mathematics (oh Lord, please deliver us). That topic has been broached here; we'll be getting back to it.

Basically, though, when we see people working in the abstract'd spaces, imagination is key. So, too, do we see thought brought to bear. See where I'm going (the Master's model - note post on Hitch)? How would we see comprehension come into play.

Well, it is not as tricky as one might think. Audacious? Perhaps.

Remarks:

10/30/2014 -- Symmetry.

09/16/2014 -- Of yes, did not mention memory. Well, we do know that seeing patterns, recognizing them, matching up with what we have seen already, and such things are memory dependent. And, the better this facility, the better one can be at handling the details.

Third question

Month, Day: 171, Might, Splendour (Perfection)

Tablet of the Seven Questions:
O God, my God! I testify to Thy unity and to Thy oneness. I beseech Thee, O Thou Possessor of names and Fashioner of the heavens, by the pervasive influence of Thine exalted Word and the potency of Thy supreme Pen, to aid me with the ensigns of Thy power and might, and to protect me from the mischief of Thine enemies who have violated Thy Covenant and Thy Testament. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Most Powerful.

Science allows?

Month, Day: 171, Names, Words (Grace)

This link is a chapter in a book that is a nice compilation: Psychic Phenomena (stale link - http://en.bahaitext.org/Lights_of_Guidance/toc/Psychic_Phenomena). The reason for the specific link follows, however the book is readily available as the starting point in looking at particular questions.

And, given the thrusts of technology, and in the underlying engineering and science, we have to expect that a whole lot of topics will be touched upon in the future. That is, being under the cover of science seems to lend objectivity (however, arguable points abound here).

This bit on morphic resonance is an example: Scientific Heretic ... on Morphic Fields, Psychic Dogs and Other Mysteries. There are many more examples that will be looked at (in an audacious mode).

For now, we're in a collection phase.

Remarks:

08/26/2014 -- Science comes from our being able to ask Questions. Now, whether there are answers is the open issue.

08/31/2018 -- Need to resolve a bad link found by looking at August posts from 2011 to 2015

Cosmology

Month, Day: 171, Mercy, Names (Justice)

We are in the Teleological times.

The following table (from Wikipedia) is offered without comment.

It is worth a whole lot of contemplation that can ensue from this.

Remarks:

07/27/2014 --  Great Ether. Looking a people, we can consider their position (pre/post) the Revelation. So, we're 170 past (Year 171). That would put 1674, as 170 the other side. Say what! ... Too, the blinders of data are strong (to be discussed). Insidious overlays result that prevent people from developing, as they ought.

07/09/2014 --Aqdas 181-183 applies.

Month, Day: 171, Glory, Will (Glory)

This year, we have Ridvan starting on Easter Sunday.

Remarks:

04/23/2014 -- Just ran across this site (Baha'i Text) which I'll be using. Got to the site by finding one page from the Lights of Guidance while searching on New Age subjects (saw a review of a book in a major newspaper) and decided to match the search results with views based upon the Baha'i Teachings. ... BTW, we're now into Questions of Glory. We still have Beauty and Grandeur before our practical looks at Teleological issues.

Jonah and Mary

Month, Day: 171, Splendour, Might (Beauty)

Jonah, 61: Thou shalt not be employed in affairs, nor shalt thou read a text out of the Koran, nor shall ye work any work, but we will be witnesses over you when ye are engaged therein: and not the weight of an atom on Earth or in Heaven escapeth thy Lord; nor is there aught that is less than this or greater, but it is in the perspicuous Book.

Mary, 60: We come not down from Heaven but by thy Lord's command. His, whatever is before us and whatever is behind us, and whatever is between the two! And thy Lord is not forgetful,-- Lord of the Heavens and of the Earth, and of all that is between them!

Light, Mercy

Month, Day: 171, Splendour, Mercy (Justice)

The Ascendant days are hard because our grasp is weak, with limited comprehension. Those days end with Light (Let there be light). Then, along comes Mercy of the Teleological portending the Operational and Motivational days to come.

Qiblih, again

Month, Day: 170, Loftiness, Questions (Beauty)

I have thought about this for years and finally feel a motivation to write the thought. It has to do with what is real or not. Or, in other words, the world is both flat and round.

Take this site, as an example.

     http://qiblih.com/

Great site. Wonderful abstractions are behind the idea. Yet, it's based upon a crow's flight argument. Too, it puts apparatus of various sorts into the way of another look at things.

You see, we know the earth is round, orbits the sun, and the like. That is, we have the modern view, supposed by modern science,  that tells us that we are not central to any big view (actually, the whole role of modern science is to diminish the human aspect -- error upon error -- all around).

Oh, but we are central. In all sorts of senses. So, let me argue this point: the earth may be round, but the world is flat.

For one basis, let me point you to the Koran's descriptions of Paradise. Too, just consider, for those who dream, how we have this reality with us (see 7V4V, to boot). There is a whole lot of discussion that we can have.

So, the great circle may be the shortest way that we can physically get to the Quiblih. And, it goes off at some nonsensical angle (yes, used properly) from where one is. But, consider what is at the base of the great circle and its direction. Yes, there is a vector that cuts through matter (ought it be the proper focus?). That is, we can worm-hole our way in a manner that is just as effective.

That, mind you, is a potential prayer orientation, to boot. And, you might consider, that as you go away from the Qiblih, all sorts of directions are just as appropriate.

Aside: Of course, one might argue that the great circle forces your sight up. True. But, pray tell, to where are your eyes more easily turned when on the knees with head bowed? Yes, that direction that takes you directly to the Source.

---

The world is flat! Yes, this is being proposed from a Hilbert-influenced (nuanced) viewpoint. Audacious? You bet.

Just think of the machinations of the Creator that resulted in us having an existential experience that is properly attuned to what is to come. No, we're not counting angels on a pinhead; rather, science will need to be perturbed back to some semblance of sanity through inputs that are outside of the box (Hilbert's).

Groups, again

Month, Day: 170, 4th Intercalary (Glory)

As we approach the new energy point, we get close, to boot, to the re-start of the cycles. Last year, we presented a review of various groupings that make sense. Why the original use of 4? One might point to the Four Valleys. But, one could think of chords, to boot.

Today, I  wondered what a partitioning by three, which is a regular occurrence for us, would look like.

   Splendour, Glory, Beauty,
           Grandeur, Light, Mercy,
              Words, Perfection, Names,
                   Might, Will, Knowledge,
               Power, Speech, Questions,
            Honour, Sovereignty, Dominion,
    Intercalary, Loftiness

The colors depict the four-group:
       Transcendent, Teleological, Operational, Motivational, Ascendant.

Angels, again

Month, Day: 170, Dominion, Glory (Glory)

In an earlier post (Angels, super man), I touched upon angels briefly since the incomplete writeup on this page at Wikipedia was irritating. Why? We'll get to that, in time (it's an issue related to ontology). But, for now, let's just say that one sense is being stressed as the important one in a discussion that needs to be brought forth in the context of science and religion (this blog's theme, in case it wasn't apparent).

So, I went today to the on-line repository of the Writings. Here is a link for four searches using the word "angels" as the key. Counts are in parenthesis.
Now, in regard to a summary, the issue of the embodied is only one sense. It's obvious that there is a demarcation of heaven and earth. The former, of course, are no longer physically embodied.

As a hint, consider that we topsy-turvy put a framework other than quasi-empirical mathematics as the basis for our knowledge. Oh, we can to that? Too, looking at the physical in a more broad sense would result in properties coming to fore (as in, not then being extant - rather it's a matter of visibility and awareness) that will help us fill in pieces (operationally - think atoms).

Audacity brings this out; general evolution, and progress, keeps increasing the potential.

Remarks:

02/09/2014 -- Pages to bring forth: Jewish mysticism, Baha'i Cosmology, ...

02/08/2014 -- I got back on this theme while reading Robert Stockman's notes on the history of Judaism which relates to progression of knowledge.

Eighth day of Sovereignty

Month, Day: 170, Sovereignty, Perfection (Beauty)

How is it that we don't see a mathematical flavor in the Writings? That is, any, and all, can know God (see the short prayer). Whereas, mathematics has reduced itself to an arena of the few (many of whom have no concept, feeling for, of quasi-empirical issues). Now, if we could incorporate something from the knowing of God into the technical framework for science (from the queen being encapsulated), there ought to be some type of measurable benefit (we're approaching the new energy point - from a sense, exogenous, though not).

Remarks:

02/28/2014 -- We're to the intercalary period. The time of the new energy is closer.

01/31/2014 -- This applies (Aqdas #94): Blessed the day on which the banners of the divine Names shall be upraised in the kingdom of creation in My Name, the All-Glorious. On that day the faithful shall rejoice in the victory of God, and the disbelievers shall lament.

Summary, 2013

Month, Day: 170, Honour, Glory (Justice)

The blog started in January of 2008. It has 302 posts, so far. There are 25 Categories. The most-read of these is Audacity (all sorts of connotations, including several given by the Master).

I did not do a summary last year, however there was a wrap-up for 2011 . This image shows posts, ordered by number of reads, for the Past 30 days and for All time.

                  Past 30 days                                          All time
The top two match up. Then, there is little overlap with the rest. It's probably nice that some 2013 posts got on the list. But, too, seeing the 2009 post stand up through time is a good thing.

It's still 2013, in my timezone, despite the clock for this blog having it in 2014. I have it that way so that the new day starts in the evening, post sundown (or close to it).
